Art Therapy That Brings Hearts Together

On October 29, an art therapy event was held at the Institute of Psychiatry as part of Taras Shevchenko National University’s “Autumn School.”

Eleven children took part in the creative activity, working in three groups on the following themes:

  • “Bright Future of Ukraine”
  • “Four Seasons”
  • “Gratitude to the Defenders”

The goal of this initiative was not only to foster children’s creativity and emotional self-expression, but also to cultivate gratitude and respect for those who defend Ukraine.

The session took place in a creative and safe atmosphere under the guidance of specialists from the Institute of Psychiatry. Through colors, symbols, and visual images, the children expressed their dreams, feelings, and appreciation for the defenders.

The art-therapy approach contributed to:

  • developing emotional resilience and empathy;
  • reducing anxiety and tension;
  • fostering a sense of unity and social significance;
  • creating a positive experience of supporting others through creativity.

This event became a special bridge between children and veterans — between those who are just discovering the world and those who protect it. After the session, all artworks created by the children were donated to the Center for Veterans’ and Their Families’ Mental Health at the Institute of Psychiatry, where they will now brighten the space and remind visitors of the warmth, gratitude, and care of the younger generation.
