The First Lady of Lithuania and the First Gentleman of Denmark paid a visit to the Veteran Mental Health Center of Excellence of the Institute of Psychiatry at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

On 12 September 2025, the First Lady of Lithuania, Diana Nausėdienė, and the First Gentleman of Denmark, Bo Tengberg, visited the Veteran Mental Health Center of Excellence of the Institute of Psychiatry  at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The visit took place as part of the 5th Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, dedicated to the role of education in shaping the future.

They were welcomed by the Vice-Rectors Kseniia Smirnova and Larysa Sokhatiuk, the Institute’s Director Iryna Pinchuk, and the Center’s Head Stanislav Chumak.

During their visit, the delegation was acquainted with the Center’s founding history and its activities: educational, scientific and methodological. The Center is conceived as a space of knowledge, support and recovery for veterans and their families. They also presented plans to open a clinical department for outpatient and inpatient care.

First Lady Nausėdienė highlighted the unique philosophy of the Center, while Mr Tengberg emphasized that the topic of post-war recovery is also close to his country. They expressed readiness to support the Center’s development.

As a symbolic gift, Mrs Nausėdienė presented a figurine of an angel, and the University gave the guests the book The Day After the War — a collection of essays by students and faculty about the first peaceful day.
