The project “Art Therapy for Ukraine – Fundamental Training Course” has successfully concluded

Within the framework of the “Art Therapy for Ukraine – Fundamental Training Course” (the CZ Art Therapy Project MEDEVAC), a six-month educational programme was completed for mental-health professionals and artists seeking to master modern approaches in art therapy.

👩‍🎨 The course included 32 hours of supervision and reflective practice and 10 hours of self-study. In addition, participants completed a course in Psychotraumatology, which consisted of 12 hours of lectures and 6 hours of independent work.
The course was delivered by Professor Jana Javakhishvili and Professor Nino Makhashvili — leading Georgian experts in psychotraumatology and crisis psychology.

Art-therapy instruction was provided by Tais de Moor (Netherlands) and Marcela Andrade del Corro (Scotland) — experienced art therapists who shared European approaches to working with trauma through art.

Among the project participants was Oleksandra Kolumbet, psychiatrist and specialist at the Institute of Psychiatry of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, who also has experience working at the Veteran Mental Health Center of Excellence.

The project was implemented with the support of the Global Initiative on Psychiatry – Human Rights in Mental Health (FGIP) in cooperation with the Veteran Mental Health Center of Excellence of the Institute of Psychiatry.
