The VETERAN MENTAL HEALTH CENTER OF EXCELLENCE is beginning its construction.

At Taras Shevchenko National University a round table was held dedicated to the strategic planning of the future premises of The Veteran Mental Health Center Of Excellence.
On February 11, 2025, at the Institute of Psychiatry of Taras Shevchenko National University, a meeting took place with the participation of the university administration, @Open.Door.Ukraine.NL, the Federation Global Initiative on Psychiatry (FGIP), engineers, designers, researchers from the Institute of Psychiatry, and veterans. They discussed how to adapt the space for The Veteran Mental Health Center Of Excellence.
What Has Already Been Accomplished?
- The needs of veterans regarding the conditions, design, and necessary activities at the Center to ensure effective support have been studied.
- A technical plan for the space and a design concept have been presented.
- A detailed technical survey of the premises has been initiated.
What’s Next?
- Approval of the technical specifications.
- Commencement of construction.
- Opening of The Veteran Mental Health Center Of Excellence in 2026.
The renovated Center, covering an area of over 1,400 m², will become the first research, methodological, and educational hub in Ukraine where the best practices and interventions will be studied for integration into the healthcare system.
